This isn’t the sort of content I usually post. I generally try to keep the content here interesting to interesting for more than just the people who know me. But, try as I might, I’m going to forget to tell someone that I passed the exam. I’m posting here in hopes that anyone who cared might find out here.
Much quicker than the three-four weeks they promised, ISC2 informed me today that I passed my CISSP exam. Despite some of my reservations about the test, I’m happy to have passed it.
Before I can put the letters on my résumé, I have a couple of procedural details to take care of. I have to send them a copy of my résumé and a signed form from another CISSP. (Are you listening Jonathan?) Then, they may randomly audit me. It would be a major P.I.A. to track everything down between here and New Zealand, but not cripplingly so.
I hope that a CISSP will help me in my job hunt once we arrive in NZ. I suspect that a CISSP is the same there as it is here. That is, show it to prospective bosses to open doors, but don’t brag to your geek friends.
Finally, a big thanks to Jonathan for browbeating me into taking the test. I’ll be sure to let my two loyal readers know if / when I can legitimately put the letters behind my name.

Congratulations! You’ll still talk to me, even though you’re are now a security bigwig right?
